Urban Air Mobility, or UAM, refers to the VTOL or EVTOL aircraft designed for short distance flights around a major metropolitan city. You can see examples of concept aircraft like Boeing’s Aurora Flight Sciences Aircraft, Uber’s Vahana Flying Taxi concept in conjunction with AirBus, and various other players.
UAM is sometimes used to refer to what is often called “Flying Cars.”
While not necessary, there is a strong connotation of autonomy or remote pilots when people refer to UAM.
